This is a replica of the old train station that we used to have in Valkenswaard, which is the town where I live in. It was demolished in 1962, so finding reference material was not easy. After having searched in every corner of the internet unsuccessfully, I eventually went to a meeting of a local model railroad club. I knew beforehand that they had built a miniature model of the station at some point. I was actually using pictures they had posted online of their model as my main reference material. Luckily, they were very helpful and provided me with the building’s design drawings or blueprints. With these drawings, I was able to easily conjure up this scene in Blender.
Here are some low-res pictures that I found on the internet. Before I obtained the blueprints, this was all the reference material I had. At the bottom of the page you can find the blueprints if you are interested.
I scanned the images below from the original a3 paper, and stitched them together afterwards. It’s barely noticeable. Many thanks to Hans, who is a member of ModelSpoorGroep Valkenswaard, for allowing me to take these drawings home to copy and use them.
Here’s a short clip from a video that was produced in 1985 by the city of Eindhoven, showing some footage related to the train-tracks.
